血门沟位于桑植县茅岩河镇神堂坪村，这条像一线天的深沟有6公里长，沟壁高200多米，宽不到3米，最窄的地方只能容纳一人通过，有人曾把它叫做“地球的裂缝”。

血门沟的名字是明朝初年得来的。当时，桑植和茅岗的土司发生边界纷争，有一次，桑植土司派人夜袭茅岗土司，双方在这一带展开激战，结果在沟边人仰马翻，死伤无数，沟内死尸累累，血流成渠，阴风阵阵，因此得名。血门沟里终日不见阳光，水雾朦胧，但草木茂盛，奇花不绝。到了雷雨天，沟内回响混杂，像千军万马在奔腾撕杀，离沟很远都可以听得见，令人心惊胆颤。

Xuemengou (Blood Gate Ditch) is located in Shentangping Village, Maoyanhe Township, Sangzhi County.This deep ditch like a line of sky is 6 kilometers long, the ditch wall is more than 200 meters high and less than 3 meters wide, the narrowest place can only accommodate one person to pass, so someone once called it "the crack of the earth".

The name of Xuemengou (Blood Gate Ditch) came from the early Ming Dynasty. At that time when there was a border dispute between the Chieftains of Sangzhi and Maogang. Once, the Chieftain of Sangzhi sent people to attack the Chieftain of Maogang at night, and the two sides started a fierce battle in the area, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries at the edge of the ditch, and the ditch was full of dead bodies, the blood flowed into the ditch and the chilly wind blown spasmodically, hence it got the name. In the Xuemengou (Blood Gate Ditch) the sun cannot be seen all day long, the water is hazy, but the grass and trees are lush, the strange flowers are endless. When it comes to thunderstorm days, the echoes are mixed in the ditch, like a thousand horses are galloping and killing; people can be heard far from the ditch and it's scary.
