奇峰三千，秀水八百。张家界的美不止于此。作为全国第一个国家森林公园所在地，张家界一直是一个生态王国，拥有丰富的动植物资源。在城郊的澧水河畔，就活跃着成群成片的白鹭。

白鹭是一种水鸟，为国家“三有”野生动物、湖南省重点保护野生动物，以啄食鱼、虫及水生植物生存。据当地居民介绍，这些精灵们每年冬天立冬以后飞走，第二年开春又飞到此地。近年来，随着各级部门加大生态保护力度，来张家界栖居的白鹭也越来越多。 郑世华 摄

Egret is a kind of water bird, which is the national "three-kind (useful or of great economic or scientific value)" wild animal and the key protected wild animal in Hunan Province. It lives by pecking fish, insects and aquatic plants. According to local residents, these elves fly away every winter after the beginning of winter, and then fly here in the spring the next year. In recent years, more and more egrets have been living in Zhangjiajie with more and more ecological protection.
